Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Leader to serve as Major Bridge Technical Director within the Bridges & Structures group. You will champion technical leadership for HDR’s major bridge portfolio, guide design teams, and manage staffing and training across North America, with travel as needed.

You will mentor engineers, help grow HDR’s market presence, and ensure QA/QC standards are applied consistently while advancing innovative bridge solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in structural engineering required.
• Professional Engineer license (PE or P.Eng) required; SE preferred.
• 20+ years of bridge project and client management experience.
• Experience leading design teams on major bridge projects; EOR or lead designer on at least one cable-stayed bridge ≥900 ft.
• Experience with alternative delivery methods (DB, PDB, PPP).

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, directing and monitoring of large multi-disciplinary bridge projects.
• Provide proactive technical oversight across design teams.
• Deliver bridge design and production leadership for long-span projects.
• Develop client relationships and support marketing and business development.
• Mentor junior engineers and supervise staff across locations.
• Oversee QA/QC procedures and ensure documentation meets standards.
• Drive staff training and strategic staffing for HDR’s bridge program.
