Job summary

HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Bridge/Structures leader to serve as Major Bridge Technical Director within the Transportation Business Group. You will champion technical leadership across HDR’s major bridges program, provide strategic guidance, and direct staffing, training, and implementation of HDR’s standards across projects.

You will mentor engineers, support marketing and pursuits, and collaborate with diverse teams to deliver safe, cost-effective, high-performance bridge solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; SE preferred.
• 10+ years bridge design and client management experience.
• Led design teams for major bridge projects and complex long-span designs.
• Experience with Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build or P3 delivery models.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, directing, and monitoring major bridge projects.
• Provide technical oversight and cross-team coordination.
• Deliver bridge design leadership and production guidance.
• Mentor junior engineers and supervise staff across locations.
• Support marketing, proposals and client relationship development.
• Oversee QA/QC and ensure compliance with standards.
