Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Bridge Technical Director to lead the major bridges program within the Bridges and Structures group. You will provide technical leadership across design, production, and delivery, manage project staffing and training, and ensure HDR standards are consistently applied.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer license (PE) or P.Eng; SE preferred.
• 10+ years bridge design and client-management experience.
• Experience as EOR or design-team lead on at least one cable-stayed bridge (900ft+ main span).
• Experience with alternative delivery projects (Design-Build, P3).
• Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
• Familiarity with major bridge software packages.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, directing, and monitoring large, complex bridge projects.
• Provide technical oversight and cross-team coordination.
• Deliver design leadership for bridge structures and production.
• Conduct complex design and analysis for long-span bridges.
• Cultivate client relationships and support marketing efforts.
• Mentor junior engineers and supervise staff across locations.
• Oversee QA/QC of bridge plans and documentation.
• Support staff recruitment and strategic hiring.
