Job summary

HDR is seeking an experienced Major Bridge Technical Director to lead the technical direction of HDR’s bridges program within the Transportation Business Group. You will champion major bridge projects, guide design teams, and ensure adherence to HDR standards across a multi-disciplinary portfolio.

You will mentor engineers, drive staff development, and contribute to marketing, proposals, and strategic growth while coordinating client relationships across North America and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Structural Engineering.
• P.E. or P.Eng license with SE preferred; reciprocity via NCEES.
• 20+ years of bridge project and client management experience.
• Experience leading major bridges design teams (e.g., cable-stayed ~900 ft).
• Experience with Design-Build and P3 delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, directing and monitoring large multi-disciplinary bridge projects.
• Provide technical oversight and cross-team coordination.
• Deliver bridge design/production leadership with design teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and supervise on-site technical work sessions.
• Oversee QA/QC and project documentation across major bridge portfolios.
