Job summary

HDR is seeking a highly experienced Senior/ Major Bridge Technical Director within its Transportation Business Group to lead the technical direction of HDR’s major bridges program. Responsibilities span planning, staffing, and ensuring HDR standards across all phases of project development and delivery.

The role emphasizes mentorship, cross-team collaboration, and strategic marketing support, with travel across North America, Canada, and Australia as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and PE license required.
• 10+ years bridge design experience with leadership of design teams.
• Experience delivering long-span cable-stayed or similar bridges is required.
• Familiarity with D/B, PDB, and other alternative delivery methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, directing, and monitoring large multi-disciplinary bridge projects.
• Provide technical oversight and cross-team coordination.
• Deliver design leadership for bridge design and production efforts.
• Supervise complex long-span bridge analysis and detailing.
• Mentor junior engineers and build project teams across locations.
• Support marketing and proposal efforts for major bridge pursuits.
• Oversee QA/QC procedures and constructability reviews.
