Job summary

HDR is seeking a Major Bridge Technical Director within the Bridges and Structures Business Class of HDR’s Transportation group. The role blends deep technical mastery with strategic leadership to guide major bridge projects across long-span designs, QA/QC, and staff development.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers, manage client relationships, and help grow HDR’s bridge portfolio while applying industry-leading standards and advanced analysis tools across North America,

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Structural Engineering.
• P.E. or P.Eng license with SE preferred; reciprocity via NCEES.
• 20+ years of bridge project and client management experience, with a track record in long-span project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Champion leadership in planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of large, complex, multi-disciplinary bridge projects.
• Provide proactive technical oversight, cross-team coordination, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Deliver technical leadership for bridge design and production efforts; engage with design teams.
• Perform complex structural planning, analysis and design for long-span projects (suspension, cable-stayed, arch, segmental).
• Oversee QA/QC procedures and ensure project deliverables meet HDR and client standards.
