Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Major Bridge Technical Director within its Transportation Business Group to lead and shape a major bridges program. You will provide high-level technical direction across all design aspects, supervise staffing and training, and ensure HDR standards are applied across the portfolio.

You will champion planning, directed execution, and collaboration with design teams, QA/QC oversight, and mentorship of engineers while driving market growth and client relationships on

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Structural Engineering.
• P.E. or P.Eng license with SE preferred and reciprocity ability.
• 10+ years bridge design experience; leadership in major bridge projects.
• Experience with Design Build / P3 delivery methods.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Proven expertise with long-span bridge design and analysis.
• Familiarity with standard bridge software packages.

Responsibilities

• Champion leadership in planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of large, complex bridge projects.
• Provide proactive technical oversight, cross-team coordination, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Deliver technical leadership for bridge design and production efforts, engaging with design teams.
• Perform complex structural planning, analysis and design for long-span projects including various bridge types.
• Cultivate client relationships and support marketing, design, and production initiatives.
• Oversee QA/QC procedures and reviews of bridge plans for complex projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and supervise staff across locations.
• Assist in strategic marketing and major bridge pursuits.
