Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking an experienced BESS Engineer III to design, develop, implement and optimize battery energy storage projects. This fully remote role offers leadership across electrical, civil, structural, SCADA and HV scopes with engineering oversight to ensure reliable and safe delivery.

You will mentor junior engineers, review specifications, support procurement, and coordinate with utilities, AHJs and project teams to optimize performance and ensure compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 3+ years electrical engineering experience with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise in design, integration and optimization of battery energy storage systems.
• Knowledge of BESS control strategies and optimization software.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NESC and utility standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes and provide guidance to project teams.
• Lead design and engineering of BESS, ensuring compliance with contracts and AHJ requirements.
• Review feasibility studies and site assessments to optimize configurations.
• Coordinate with fire protection engineers and AHJs; manage third-party partners.
• Develop specs, drawings, and procurement documentation for BESS components.
• Provide engineering support during construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and stay current with industry standards.
• Travel as required to support project execution.
