Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a BESS Engineer III to design, implement, and optimize battery energy storage systems across projects. You will guide cross-functional teams, review feasibility and sizing studies, and ensure compliance with contracts, utilities, and AHJ requirements.

This fully remote role offers strategic technical direction and opportunities for mentoring. You will collaborate with engineering peers, vendors, and clients, oversee procurement and testing, and support project execution

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 3+ years of electrical engineering experience with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise in design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems; including lithium-ion batteries, inverters, BMS, and grid interconnection equipment.
• Knowledge of BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NESC, NFPA, utility standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes, providing guidance and technical direction to project teams.
• Lead and manage design and engineering of battery energy storage systems, ensuring compliance with contracts, utilities, and AHJ requirements.
• Review feasibility studies, site assessments, and sizing analyses to recommend optimal BESS configurations and augmentation provisions.
• Oversee system modeling, simulation, and analysis to optimize performance, efficiency, and reliability.
• Provide engineering oversight during procurement including vendor recommendations and drawing reviews.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to design, procure, install, and commission BESS systems.
• Provide engineering support during construction, including field issue resolution and design clarifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and project teams on BESS principles and practices.
