SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Senior BESS Engineer to lead design, development, and optimization of battery energy storage systems.

You will guide project teams, ensure contract and AHJ compliance, review studies, and drive procurement, installation, and commissioning activities for reliable, safe energy storage projects. The role emphasizes cross-disciplinary coordination, mentoring, and staying current with industry standards.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise in design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems; including lithium-ion batteries, inverters, BMS, and grid interconnection equipment.
• Expert knowledge of BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis (PSS/E, PSCAD) and simulation tools.
• Technical SME of applicable codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NESC, NFPA, utility standards).
• Extensive experience with grid operations and regulatory requirements (FERC Order 841, IEEE 1547).
• Strong understanding of fire protection requirements (UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA855).
• Knowledge of SCADA/EMS communication protocols (IEC 61850).
• Project management experience including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.

• Serve as a SME for BESS engineering scopes, guiding project teams.
• Lead and manage the design and engineering of BESS, ensuring compliance with contracts, utilities, and AHJ requirements.
• Review feasibility studies and system sizing analyses to recommend optimal BESS configurations.
• Mentor Engineers of Record and third-party partners to ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to design, procure, install, and commission BESS systems.
• Provide engineering support during construction, testing, commissioning, energization, and initial synchronization.
