SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior BESS Engineer to lead design, development, implementation, and optimization of battery energy storage projects. This role provides strategic direction, technical expertise, and engineering oversight to ensure reliable and safe BESS solutions.

The position is fully remote with interview-based location discussions. The successful candidate will oversee cross-functional teams, ensure compliance with codes and standards, and mentor junior engineers while driving

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expert in BESS design, integration, and optimization including lithium-ion batteries, inverters, BMS, and grid interconnection.
• Expert knowledge of BESS control strategies and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis tools (PSS/E, PSCAD) and simulations.
• Knowledge of codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, IBC, NFPA) and utility standards.
• Experience with grid operations and regulatory requirements (FERC Order 841, IEEE 1547).
• Strong understanding of fire protection requirements (UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA855).
• Experience with SCADA/EMS communication protocols (IEC 61850).
• Project management experience including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
• Knowledge of EPC workflows and coordination with engineering partners.
• PE license preferred.
• Ability to work independently with multiple priorities; safety and quality focus.

Responsabilités

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes, guiding project teams.
• Lead design and engineering of BESS, ensure compliance with contracts and AHJ requirements.
• Review feasibility studies, site assessments, and system sizing analyses.
• Collaborate across electrical, civil, structural, SCADA, and HV scopes.
• Manage Engineers of Record and third-party partners for timely delivery.
• Coordinate with fire protection engineers and AHJs.
• Develop and review technical specs, drawings, and procurement docs.
• Provide oversight during procurement including vendor reviews.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to design, procure, install, and commission BESS.
• Oversee system modeling, simulation, and analysis to optimize performance.
• Provide engineering support during construction and field issue resolution.
• Support testing, validation, commissioning, energization, and synchronization.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering excellence.
• Stay current with industry trends, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Support business development via proposals and technical consultations.
• Represent SOLV Engineering in customer meetings and team calls.
• Travel as required to support project execution.
