SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior BESS Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of battery energy storage systems. This role provides technical direction, engineering oversight, and ensures safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance on projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years electrical engineering with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise in design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems.
• Strong knowledge of BESS control strategies and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis and simulation tools.
• Technical SME for applicable codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, IBC, NFPA, NESC).
• Experience with grid operations and regulatory requirements (FERC Order 841, IEEE 1547).
• Familiarity with fire protection requirements (UL9540, NFPA855).
• Knowledge of SCADA and Energy Management System protocols (IEC 61850).
• Project management including budgeting and scheduling.

Responsabilités

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes and guide project teams.
• Lead design and engineering of BESS, ensuring contractual and AHJ compliance.
• Review feasibility studies, site assessments, and system sizing analyses.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams across electrical, civil, structural, SCADA, and HV scopes.
• Manage Engineers of Record and third-party partners for timely delivery.
• Collaborate with fire protection engineers and AHJ authorities.
• Develop technical specs, drawings, and docs for procurement.
• Provide oversight during procurement and vendor reviews.
• Support design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of BESS systems.
• Oversee system modeling and optimization for performance and reliability.
• Support construction with field issue resolution and design clarifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering excellence.
• Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes.
• Assist with business development through technical consultations.
