Qualifications

• Three years' experience as a Benefit Programs Specialist in Virginia with increasing responsibilities.
• Willingness to work an emergency shelter during natural disasters or weather-related emergencies.
• Knowledge of public assistance programs and eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitors efficacy, program trends, and prepares seasonal, quarterly and yearly reports.
• Participates on task forces, strategic planning, mentoring volunteers and staff, teaching classes and outreach.
• Reviews cases for correctness and identifies errors affecting eligibility.
• Interviews clients with questionable information to determine benefits eligibility.
• Documents data and compares findings with program guidelines.
• Prepares reports on quality control and advises supervisor.
• Explains programs and applicants' rights and responsibilities and follows up as needed.
• Maintains records and submits summaries and information as required.
