Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Bank Controller to lead the accounting function during a growth phase. You will oversee monthly internal/external reporting, ensure GAAP and regulatory compliance, and coordinate the bank's financial statements.

This remote‑first role supports our US operations, with a focus on scaling processes, building an automated reporting ecosystem, and driving strategic financial analysis across the organization.

Qualifications

• Accounting designation such as CPA or CA.
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Accounting, Finance or Treasury‑related areas.
• Minimum 5 years of people management experience.
• Experience building out the appropriate tools and processes, and scaling an Accounting team in a similar industry.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP, Regulatory reporting.
• Proven analysis, cash management, and modeling experience.
• Extremely detail oriented and a natural critical thinker.
• Strategic, goal driven, focused, with a “can‑do” attitude.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Bank accounting team with strategic direction, recruitment, and coaching as we establish the function.
• Serve as a primary liaison with cross‑functional partners and stakeholders.
• Oversee all monthly reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.
• Build a controlled regulatory reporting function for timely and accurate filings (e.g., FFIEC 041, Part 363, Fed reports).
• Coordinate the annual Bank financial statement audit with external auditors.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to evaluate and implement tools for automation of accounting/reporting.
• Manage financial analysis and projects as required.
