You will own backend services powering Coinbase Advisor and Strategies, and integrate with trading APIs to translate recommendations into auditable execution for millions of customers. This role is primarily backend on a full‑stack team; you’ll build the agentic harness, including tool calling, orchestration, persistent state, and recovery from failed actions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend focus.
• Experience with API design, distributed systems, and debugging production failures.
• Proficiency in Go or strong ability to learn quickly.
• Experience building production LLM or agentic systems, including tool calling, orchestration, or evaluation.
• Proven ability to take ambiguous projects from zero to production with minimal oversight and sound product and technical judgment.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own backend services powering Coinbase Advisor and Strategies, from design through launch and ongoing operation.
• Build integrations with trading APIs so agent recommendations translate into correct execution.
• Develop agentic harness, including tool calling, orchestration, persistent state, and recovery from failed actions.
• Shape agent behavior through prompt engineering, evals, and conversation analysis with our adviser on changes to financial advice.
• Improve service reliability, latency, observability, and safeguards against duplicate actions.
• Collaborate across frontend, product, design, trading infra, and legal/compliance to ship capabilities within guardrails.
