Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Coinbase Advisor team within the Consumer & Business group. This role focuses on backend and full-stack work to power agentic trading, with responsibilities across design, development, and operations.

You will own services powering Coinbase Advisor, build integrations with trading APIs, and shape agent behavior through prompts, evals, and analysis, ensuring reliability and compliance for millions of users.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering with backend focus.
• API design, distributed systems, data modeling, testing, and debugging.
• Proficiency in Go or ability to learn quickly.
• Experience building production LLM or agentic systems with tool calling.
• Ability to take ambiguous projects from zero to production with sound judgment.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own backend services powering Coinbase Advisor and Strategies, from design to launch and operation.
• Build integrations with Coinbase trading APIs for correct, auditable execution.
• Develop agentic harness including tool calling, orchestration, state, and recovery.
• Shape agent behavior through prompts, evals, and conversation analysis with the investment adviser.
• Improve reliability, latency, observability, and safety with retry and safeguards.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, design, trading infra, and compliance to ship features within guardrails.
