Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to own the backend systems powering the Coinbase One membership product. You will drive the lifecycle from sign-up to recurring payments, benefits delivery, and targeted promotions for millions of customers.

You will collaborate with frontend, product, design, and payments teams to scope, ship, and iterate membership features, while improving reliability and performance of the backend stack.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience shipping and operating production services at scale.
• Experience building subscription, payments, or commerce systems with recurring billing or promotions.
• Proficiency in Go or a similar backend language with ability to adapt to a Go-centric codebase.
• Design and maintain APIs and distributed systems across web and mobile surfaces.
• Proven track record taking ambiguous projects from scoping to production with cross-functional partners.
• Ability to use generative AI responsibly with human oversight for measurable improvements.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and operation of backend services powering the Coinbase One lifecycle.
• Build scalable platform capabilities for targeted benefits and personalized experiences.
