Coinbase, Inc. is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend for the Coinbase One team within the Consumer & Business group.

You will own backend services powering the membership lifecycle, from sign-up and payment processing to benefit delivery and promotions, impacting millions of customers. You will collaborate with frontend, product, design, and payments teams to scope, ship, and iterate features from concept through production, while improving reliability and performance across the backend

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience shipping and operating production services at scale.
• Experience building subscription, payments, or commerce systems with recurring billing or promo logic.
• Proficiency in Go or a similar backend language (Java, C++, Rust) with Go adaptation.
• Ability to design and maintain APIs and distributed systems across web and mobile.
• Proven track record taking ambiguous projects from scoping to production with cross-functional partners.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, and operation of backend services powering the Coinbase One lifecycle.
• Build scalable platform capabilities for targeted benefit delivery and personalized experiences.
• Partner with frontend, product, design, and payments teams to ship features end-to-end.
• Drive backend architecture decisions for reliability, extensibility, and integration with Coinbase platform services.
• Improve service reliability, observability, and performance; resolve production issues.
