Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Retail DEX) to build and scale data-intensive systems powering onchain trading. You will integrate blockchains, design onchain primitives, and optimize the entire trading stack for millisecond latency.

You will work across off-chain and onchain components, leveraging Kafka, ClickHouse, Redis, and Temporal, with experience in Ethereum/Base or Solana. The role emphasizes responsible AI use and rapid iteration with the Retail DEX team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience designing data-intensive systems with Kafka, Clickhouse, Redis.
• Proven experience with onchain smart contracts on Ethereum/Base or Solana.
• Ability to build agentic-first code repositories in production.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Integrate new blockchains, DEXs, and launchpads into the Coinbase app to unlock more onchain assets for millions of traders.
• Design and implement first-party onchain trading contracts for DEX features to improve execution quality.
• Scale real-time data pipelines to handle 100K+ messages per second with millisecond latency.
• Optimize the trading stack end-to-end for fastest execution and best fills.
• Drive iteration on agentic-first development patterns to accelerate velocity.
