Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Retail DEX backend team. You will build scalable data systems and onchain primitives to power a seamless trading experience across major blockchains.

Expect to integrate new blockchains, design onchain contracts, and drive high-throughput data pipelines for millisecond latency. The role emphasizes agentic-first development, responsible AI use, and collaboration with a fast-paced, remote-first team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering in production data systems.
• Experience designing data-intensive systems and integrating with Kafka, Clickhouse, Starrocks, Temporal, Redis.
• Proven experience designing and integrating with onchain smart contracts on Ethereum/Base or Solana.
• Demonstrated ability to build, iterate on, and improve agentic-first code in production environments.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Integrate new blockchains, DEXs, and launchpads into the main Coinbase app.
• Design and implement first-party onchain trading smart contracts.
• Scale real-time data pipelines handling 100K+ messages per second.
• Optimize the trading stack for fastest execution and broad asset coverage.
• Drive agentic-first development patterns accelerating team velocity.
