Job summary

Coinbase Advisor is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Advisor team within the Consumer & Business group. The role focuses on backend and full-stack work to power an AI-informed trading assistant that interacts with users, executes trades, and delivers trusted financial advice.

You will own services, integrate with trading APIs, and help shape agent behavior while ensuring reliability and regulatory compliance in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend focus.
• Strong API design, distributed systems, data modeling, testing and debugging production failures.
• Proficiency in Go or ability to learn it quickly.
• Experience building production LLM or agentic systems, including tool calling and orchestration.
• Proven ability to take ambiguous projects from zero to production with minimal oversight and sound product/technical judgment.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs.

Responsibilities

• Own backend services powering Coinbase Advisor and Strategies from design to launch and operation.
• Build integrations with Coinbase trading APIs for correct, auditable execution.
• Develop agentic harness including tool calling, orchestration, state, and recovery.
• Shape agent behavior through prompt engineering, evals, and conversation analysis with an adviser on changes to financial advice.
• Improve service reliability, latency, observability, and safeguards against duplicate actions.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, design, trading infra, and legal/compliance to ship capabilities within guardrails.
