Job summary

SmithRx, a venture-backed Health-Tech company, is hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer for the Drug Access team within the Application Engineering organization. You will design, build, and maintain backend data and APIs, collaborating with frontend teams and Product Managers to deliver features that lower healthcare costs.

We value leadership, ownership, and the ability to translate complex requirements into modular designs, with a focus on performance, availability, and scalability.

Qualifications

• BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field or 4 years of equivalent professional experience.
• 5–8 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience at a high-growth startup or midsize tech company is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SmithRx product features with Go, Java, and other stack elements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and leads to translate requirements into scalable software.
• Create technical design docs, estimates, and risk assessments for system features.
• Apply best practices, testing, automation, and modern tools across the lifecycle.
• Leverage AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, RDS) for diverse workloads.
• Triage production issues and implement long-term mitigations with root-cause analysis.
• Contribute to quarterly roadmaps and align work with leadership vision.
• Mentor teammates and promote a culture of learning and exploration.
