Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Coinbase Advisor team, primarily focused on backend services that power agentic trading for millions of users. You will own services from design through to production, building integrations with trading APIs and shaping the agenting harness with tool calling and state recovery.

You’ll work on prompt engineering, evals, and conversation analysis with our advisory partners, while improving reliability, latency, and safety within regulatory

Qualifications

• 5+ years in professional software engineering with backend focus.
• Experience shipping and operating production services.
• Strong API design, distributed systems, data modeling, and debugging production failures.
• Proficiency in Go or ability to learn quickly.
• Experience building or evaluating production LLM/agentic systems and tool calling.
• Capable of driving ambiguous projects to production with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Own backend services powering Coinbase Advisor and Strategies from design to launch.
• Build integrations with trading APIs to translate agent recommendations into execution.
• Develop agentic harness including tool calling, orchestration, and state recovery.
• Shape agent behavior through prompts, evals, and conversation analysis with investment advisers.
• Improve reliability, latency, observability, and safeguards against duplicates.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, design, trading infra, and compliance to ship features within guardrails.
