Job summary

Fuze Health Inc. in the United States seeks a Senior Database Administrator to lead database modernization for Hospice services. You will drive SQL Server upgrades on EC2, migrations to AWS RDS, and modernization of SSIS/SSRS, while optimizing costs and mentoring the Hospice DBA team.

You will establish cloud monitoring (Datadog, CloudWatch), implement backups and DR, and ensure HITRUST/HIPAA compliance across systems. This is a senior, impact-first role within the Technology Platform team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of database administration experience in regulated environments.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning and HA/DR.
• Hands-on upgrades of SQL Server and end-of-support migrations with testing.
• Strong SSIS/SSRS experience and AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup and migrations.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL tools (DMS, Glue) and Terraform for infra.
• Backup/restore strategies, cross-region replication, and PITR mastery.
• Proficient in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• HIPAA/HITRUST/SOC2 knowledge; able to operate in regulated healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2 and migration to AWS RDS or in-place upgrades.
• Migrate/maintain SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports; plan re-platforming to AWS-native tooling.
• Drive database cost optimization: right-size, RI usage, storage tiering, licensing.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch; set baselines.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes with AWS Backup.
• Perform query optimization, index management, and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with DevOps (Terraform) for infrastructure automation; ensure HITRUST compliance.
• Support application teams with database-related development needs.
• Evaluate PostgreSQL/Aurora options for future modernization roadmap.
