Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking a Senior Database Administrator for the Fuze Care Services team to lead AWS database modernization for the Hospice unit. You will drive SQL Server on EC2 migrations, RDS upgrades, and cost optimization while mentoring the Hospice DBA team.

The role focuses on high-impact database strategy across the US, ensuring HITRUST/HIPAA compliance, robust backups, and modern ETL/reporting approaches, with Datadog and CloudWatch monitoring.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, HA and DR
• Hands-on upgrades and end-of-support migrations (SQL Server 2016+)
• SSIS and SSRS hands-on administration
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) and multi-AZ
• Experience with AWS-native ETL and data migration tools

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2: migration to AWS RDS and/or in-place upgrade from SQL Server 2016
• Migrate/maintain SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports; re-platform to AWS-native ETL if needed
• Drive database cost optimization: right-size instances, reserved instances, storage tiering
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations
• Establish cloud-native monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch
• Implement automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery via AWS Backup
• Query optimization, indexing and capacity planning
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform for RDS infrastructure
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across database systems
