Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead database modernization for the Hospice unit, including SQL Server on EC2 migration to AWS RDS, upgrading 2016, and modernizing ETL/SSRS workloads. You will mentor the Hospice SQL DBA team and establish cloud-native monitoring and DR practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands-on with SQL Server upgrades and end-of-support migrations.
• Strong experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring, Multi-AZ.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL and data migration tooling (AWS DMS, AWS Glue).
• Database migration projects experience (on-premises or EC2 to RDS, and upgrades).
• Backup/restore strategies, point-in-time recovery, cross-region replication.
• Monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, SQL Server DMVs).
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2).

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2: migration to AWS RDS and/or in-place upgrade from SQL Server 2016.
• Migrate and maintain SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports; re-platform to AWS-native ETL/reporting or upgrade on EC2.
• Drive database cost optimization: right-sizing, Reserved Instances, storage tiering, licensing costs.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring and alerting with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Automate backup, restore, and disaster recovery with AWS Backup.
• Query optimization, index management, capacity planning.
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation (Terraform for RDS).
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across database systems.
• Support Hospice application team with database-related development needs.
• Evaluate future modernization opportunities (PostgreSQL, Aurora) for 2027 roadmap.
