Job summary

Fuze Health Inc. seeks a Senior Database Administrator to lead the AWS database modernization for the Hospice platform, migrating SQL Server to RDS or upgrading on EC2, modernizing SSIS/SSRS, and optimizing costs. You will mentor the Hospice DBA team and establish cloud monitoring and DR strategies across the United States.

Responsibilities include automation with Terraform, HITRUST/E1 compliance, and planning for future PostgreSQL/Aurora upgrades, while ensuring regulatory requirements are met.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server upgrades and end-of-support migrations.
• Strong hands-on experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring, Multi-AZ.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL and data migration tooling.
• Experience with database migration projects (on-premises or EC2 to RDS).
• HIPAA/HITRUST/SOC2 regulatory experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2: migrate to AWS RDS or upgrade from SQL Server 2016 before end of support.
• Migrate and maintain SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports; re-platform to AWS-native ETL/reporting or upgrade on SQL Server EC2.
• Drive database cost optimization: right-size instances, Reserved Instances, storage tiering, licensing costs.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native database monitoring and performance baselines using Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery using AWS Backup.
• Perform query optimization, indexing, and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation (Terraform for RDS).
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance for all database systems.
• Support Hospice application team with database-related development needs.
• Evaluate future modernization opportunities (PostgreSQL, Aurora).
