Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the design, analysis, and testing of avionics packaging for lunar missions. You will work with cross-functional teams to define requirements, perform thermal and structural analyses, and drive design decisions for rugged, high-reliability hardware.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required.
• Experience with ruggedized electronic enclosures or high‑reliability hardware.
• Experience with static, modal, random vibration, and thermal analyses.
• 3D CAD modeling in Creo preferred; FEA in Ansys preferred.
• GD&T (ASME Y14.5) expertise and documentation.
• Self-directed with ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership on a cross-disciplinary design team.
• Participate in the full design cycle of flight and mission-critical avionics.
• Collaborate with customers to define requirements and architectures.
• Lead design trade studies and create mechanical interfaces, drawings, and documentation.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and installation drawings; build and evaluate prototypes.
• Plan and conduct engineering tests and reviews; mentor junior engineers.
