Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to architect, design, and validate mechanical packaging for spacecraft LRUs. You will own the mechanical design from concept through qualification and production, ensuring alignment stability and survivability through launch with reliable on‑orbit performance.

Responsibilities include designing packaging architectures, creating 3D models and drawings, and collaborating with electrical teams to analyze thermal and structural aspects.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering required.
• 7+ years designing ruggedized electronic enclosures or high‑reliability hardware.
• Experience with static structural, modal, random vibration and thermal analysis.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and drawings; strong GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with environmental testing including vibration and thermal cycling.
• Experience performing failure analysis and root cause corrective action.
• U.S. citizen, permanent resident or otherwise authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the full design cycle of flight avionics LRUs.
• Design packaging architectures using DFM/DFA for avionics enclosures.
• Develop enclosure solutions for high reliability in harsh environments.
• Create mechanical interface definitions, specs, and control documents.
• Produce 3D CAD models, drawings, and installation diagrams.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineering on PCBs and interconnects with thermal/structural analyses.
• Own BOMs and change control through the product lifecycle.
• Build and evaluate prototype assemblies and test fixtures.
• Plan and conduct engineering tests and data reviews.
• Support environmental testing (TVAC, vibration, thermal cycling, etc.).
