Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the design, analysis, and testing of rugged avionics enclosures for lunar missions. You will guide cross-disciplinary teams across Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems groups to ensure robust packaging and high reliability in harsh environments.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience designing ruggedized electronic enclosures or high-reliability hardware.
  • Experience with static, modal, random vibration, and thermal analysis.
  • Proficiency with Creo or other 3D CAD software and Ansys for FEA.
  • Ability to lead and mentor engineers and communicate complex designs effectively.
  • Experience with environmental testing including vibration, shock, and thermal testing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership as a member of a cross-disciplinary team in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Participate in the entire design cycle of flight and mission critical avionics.
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to define requirements and design architecture.
  • Lead design trade studies and create mechanical enclosure solutions for high reliability.
  • Create 3D CAD models and assemblies, drawings, and installation documentation.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and review designs and documentation.
