Job summary

Blue Origin in Longmont, CO is seeking an Avionics Mechanical Design & Analysis Engineer III to own ruggedized enclosures and mechanical systems for spacecraft avionics. You will drive packaging design from concept through flight release, collaborating across mechanical, electrical, and test teams to ensure reliability under extreme space environments.

Qualifications

• B.S. inMechanical/Aerospace engineering and 5+ years in electromechanical/avionics packaging.
• Proven track record owning mechanical designs from requirements to production support.
• Strong GD&T and ASME Y14.5 drawing practices with 3D CAD competency.
• Experience integrating PCBAs, connectors and harness interfaces in ruggedized gear.
• Experience leading thermal and structural analyses for electronic packaging.

Responsibilities

• Own complex avionics packaging assemblies across full lifecycle from concept to flight release.
• Collaborate with electrical, thermal, structures, manufacturing and QA engineers.
• Lead thermal, structural, vibration analyses and trade studies balancing mass and cost.
• Deliver models, drawings, specs, ICDs and release packages with GD&T.
• Plan and execute environmental test campaigns and root-cause investigations.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews with suppliers.
