Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior mechanical design engineer to own mechanical packaging for PMAD LRU and enclosures for rugged avionics. You will lead cross-disciplinary teams, drive requirements, perform structural/thermal analyses, and deliver CAD drawings, test plans, and documentation for flight hardware.

Applicants should have 7+ years in high-rel hardware, strong Creo and Ansys experience, and a track record of autonomous project leadership in aerospace environments.

Qualifications

• B.S. in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 7+ years designing ruggedized electronic enclosures or high-rel hardware.
• Static, modal, random vibration, and thermal analyses experience.
• 3D CAD modeling in Creo.
• FEA experience with Ansys.
• GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership as a cross-disciplinary team member in a fast-paced design environment.
• Lead design cycles for flight and mission-critical avionics.
• Define requirements and architecture with customers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering on PCB/interconnect system analyses.
• Lead design trade studies for enclosure solutions.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings, and installation documents.
• Build/evaluate prototype assemblies and test fixtures.
• Document team mechanical best practices; conduct tests and reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers; review designs and documentation.
