Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer for a hybrid role combining home and office work. You will contribute to PLC-based control systems, SIS projects, and other industrial platforms while advancing through our Automation Lab and Communities of Practice.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in instrumentation/controls engineering, strong documentation skills, and the ability to obtain US government clearance. Some travel to client sites is required.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program; MS degree preferred.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in instrumentation and controls or automation and control systems engineering.
• Experienced with designing, programming, documenting, and/or testing automated machinery or processes at industrial facilities.
• Experienced with industrial communication design (Ethernet IP preferred; familiarity with Modbus/Profibus a plus).
• Producing P&IDs, Control System Narratives, I/O Lists, Cause and Effect or Logic Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, FAT Procedures, and Software documentation including O&M manuals.

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams with other discipline engineers involved in PLC-based control systems, SIS, and other industrial platforms.
• Prepare specifications and design media for procurement and implementation of software, instrumentation, and control system platforms.
• Mentoring and training in our Automation Lab to grow knowledge in Automation/Control Systems Engineering.
• Develop career via peer learning through S&L's Communities of Practice.
• Travel to client offices and project sites as required.
