Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to contribute to PLC-based control systems, SIS projects, and industrial automation initiatives. The role emphasizes design, documentation, and collaboration across project teams in a hybrid work setting.

Candidates should have a strong background in instrumentation and controls, possess US citizenship, and be eligible for government security clearance.

Qualifications

• US citizen and able to obtain U.S. government security clearance.
• ABET-accredited BS in engineering; MS preferred.
• 7+ years in instrumentation and controls or automation and control systems engineering.
• Experience designing, programming, documenting, and testing automated machinery or processes at industrial facilities.
• Experience with industrial communication design (Ethernet IP preferred; familiar with Modbus/Profibus).

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams designing PLC-based control systems and SIS for industrial facilities.
• Prepare specifications and design media for procurement and implementation of software, instrumentation, and control platforms.
• Engage in training and mentoring through Automation Lab and Communities of Practice.
• Develop career through peer learning and company programs.
• Travel to client offices and project sites as required.
