Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join a multi-discipline project team in a hybrid work arrangement. You will work on PLC-based control systems, SIS, and other industrial platforms, developing specs and design media for procurement and implementation.

You will mentor colleagues in the Automation Lab and through Communities of Practice, expanding your expertise in automation while traveling to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain US government security clearance.
• BS in engineering from ABET-accredited program; MS degree preferred.
• 10+ years in instrumentation and controls or automation engineering.
• Experience designing, programming, documenting, and testing automated machinery or processes in industrial facilities.
• Experience with industrial communication design (Ethernet/IP preferred; Modbus/Profibus a plus).
• Ability to produce P&IDs, Control System Narratives, I/O Lists, and wiring/OM documentation.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is valued but not required.
• Experience with Rockwell RSLogix 5000 and RSView is valued.

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams with other discipline engineers to design PLC-based control systems, SIS, and other industrial platforms.
• Prepare specifications and design media for procurement and implementation of software, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Mentor teammates through technical sessions and Automation Lab trainings to grow automation knowledge.
• Advance career via Communities of Practice and peer learning.
• Travel to client offices and project sites as required.
