Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer for a hybrid role combining home and in-office work. You will join a multidisciplinary team to design PLC-based control systems and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) for industrial facilities.

Responsibilities include creating specifications, engineering media, and documenting control systems while mentoring others in our Automation Lab. Domestic travel to client sites is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• ABET-accredited BS in engineering; MS preferred.
• 10+ years in instrumentation and controls or automation engineering.
• Experience designing, programming, documenting, and testing automated machinery or processes in industrial facilities.
• Experience with industrial communication design (Ethernet IP preferred; Modbus/Profibus a plus).
• Experience producing P&IDs, control narratives, I/O lists, EOPs, wiring diagrams, and O&M manuals.

Responsibilities

• Work on multi-disciplinary project teams designing PLC-based control systems and SIS.
• Prepare specifications and design media for procurement and implementation of control platforms.
• Advance automation knowledge through training and in-lab sessions.
• Develop career through Communities of Practice and peer learning.
• Travel to client offices and project sites as required.
