Job summary

Sargent & Lundy LLC is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in Chicago for PLC-based control systems and SIS design. The role involves collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams on industrial facilities and requires a strong background in automation and engineering principles.

Hybrid work is available, with opportunities to advance through mentorship and formal training in the Automation Lab.

Qualifications

Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program; MS degree preferred.
10 years of progressively responsible experience in instrumentation and controls or automation and control systems engineering.
Proven ability to interface with craft for troubleshooting and problem solving.
Experience designing, programming, documenting, and testing automated machinery or processes at industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

Work on project teams with other discipline engineers to design PLC-based control systems and SIS.
Prepare specifications and design media for procurement and implementation of software, instrumentation, and control systems.
Develop knowledge in Automation/Control Systems Engineering through training and the Automation Lab.
Engage in peer learning via Communities of Practice.
Travel to client offices and project sites as required.
