Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team supporting government services projects in the United States. The role focuses on PLC/SIS design, control-system documentation, and collaboration with client offices in a hybrid work setup.

You will develop P&IDs, I/O lists, narratives, wiring diagrams, FAT procedures, and software documentation while expanding expertise via our Automation Lab and Communities of Practice.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program; MS degree preferred.
• 5 years of progressively responsible experience in instrumentation and controls or automation and control systems engineering.
• Experienced with designing, programming, documenting, and/or testing automated machinery or processes at industrial facilities.
• Experience with industrial communication design (Ethernet IP preferred; familiarity with Modbus/Profibus a plus).
• Producing P&IDs, Control System Narratives, I/O Lists, Cause and Effect or Logic Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, FAT Procedures, and software documentation.

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams with other discipline engineers in PLC-based control systems and SIS.
• Prepare specifications and design media for procurement and implementation of software, instrumentation, and control platforms.
• Increase knowledge in Automation/Control Systems Engineering through mentoring and training in our Automation Lab.
• Develop career via peer learning and Communities of Practice; travel to client sites as needed.
