Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Richland, WA is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to design PLC-based control systems and SIS for industrial facilities. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement and requires U.S.

citizenship with the ability to obtain government clearance. Responsibilities include preparing specifications, P&IDs, I/O lists, and FAT procedures; mentoring in the Automation Lab; and travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• BS degree in engineering from ABET accredited program; MS degree preferred.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in instrumentation and controls or automation and control systems engineering.
• Experienced with designing, programming, documenting, and/or testing automated machinery or processes at industrial facilities.
• Experienced with industrial communication design (Ethernet IP is preferred and a familiarity with Modbus and Profibus is a plus).
• Experienced with producing P&IDs, Control System Narratives, I/O Lists, Cause and Effect or Logic Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, FAT Procedures, and Software documentation including O&M manuals.

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams with other discipline engineers involved in the design of PLC-based control systems, SIS, and other industrial control system platforms.
• Prepare specifications and design media for procurement and implementation of software, instrumentation, and control system platforms.
• Mentor via classroom-style sessions and on-the-job training in our Automation Lab to grow automation knowledge.
• Develop career via peer learning through S&L's Communities of Practice.
• Travel to client offices and project sites, as required.
