Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is recruiting an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join a multi-discipline project team in a hybrid work setting. The role focuses on PLC/HMI design, SIS, and automation, with responsibilities spanning specification development, design media, and software documentation for industrial facilities.

The ideal candidate has a BS in engineering (ABET-accredited) with around 7 years of experience, familiarity with Ethernet IP, Modbus, and Profibus, and the ability to obtain US

Qualifications

• Must hold US citizenship and be able to obtain US government security clearance.
• BS in engineering from ABET-accredited program; MS degree preferred.
• 7 years of progressively responsible experience in instrumentation and controls or automation and control systems engineering.
• Experienced with designing, programming, documenting, and/or testing automated machinery or processes at industrial facilities.
• Experienced with industrial communication design (Ethernet IP is preferred and a familiarity with Modbus and Profibus is a plus).
• Experienced with producing P&IDs, Control System Narratives, I/O Lists, Cause and Effect or Logic Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Factory Acceptance Test Procedures, and Software documentation including O&M manuals.

Responsibilities

• Join multi-discipline project teams designing PLC-based control systems and SIS.
• Prepare specifications and design media for procurement and implementation.
• Mentor and train in the Automation Lab to enhance automation knowledge.
• Develop career through Communities of Practice and peer learning.
• Travel to client offices and project sites as required.
