Job summary

Maher Duessel, a leading regional CPA firm in Pennsylvania, is seeking a Senior Auditor in State College to lead engagements with minimal supervision. You will direct staff, review work, and handle accounting, tax, and auditing matters while ensuring client deadlines are met.

The role offers a hybrid work schedule, opportunities to work with government and non-profit clients, and a competitive compensation and benefits package. CPA strongly preferred and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting and licensure path to CPA.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting.
• Government and non-profit audit experience preferred.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to supervise, train, and develop staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop people through delegating tasks and guiding staff.
• Provide performance feedback and evaluations for staff.
• Foster an efficient, innovative, team-oriented environment.

• Direct fieldwork daily; plan and supervise audit phases.

• Highlight risks to senior staff and partners.
• Review staff workpapers for compliance with standards.
• Begin acquiring public speaking and presentation skills.
• Manage overtime to complete tasks with the team.
• Actively work towards CPA exam completion.
