Job summary

New Charter seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to manage the financial accounting function, close processes, and financial reporting across multiple operating companies. You will lead a team of accountants, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely results while partnering with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate has a CPA (preferred), 5–7+ years of accounting experience, and strong knowledge of GAAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA preferred
• 5-7+ years of accounting experience
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Ability to perform under tight timelines, prioritizing multiple projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Highly organized with keen attention to detail and follow-through.
• Experience with ERP systems and month-end close processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the full-cycle accounting and month-end close activities for multiple Operating Companies
• Prepare and review journal entries for AR, AP, cash, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, intercompany, and accruals
• Reconcile general ledger accounts per Corporate Policies
• Research and explain variances to forecast and budget with management
• Coordinate with other functions on month-end close timing and results
• Lead and develop a team of accountants; foster collaboration and accountability
• Ensure accounting procedures comply with GAAP and Corporate Policies
• Lead year-end audit requests from external auditors
• Champion adoption of new accounting software and tools
