Job summary

New Charter is seeking an Assistant Controller to manage the full-cycle accounting for multiple operating companies and lead a capable accounting team. You will ensure timely close, accurate financial reporting, and adherence to GAAP.

Collaboration with cross-functional partners and leadership in process improvement are key success factors. You will drive accounting policy compliance, support audits, and champion new ERP tools to streamline operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA preferred.
• 5–7+ years of accounting experience.
• Expertise in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (or similar ERP) and quick adoption of new systems.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle accounting and month-end close for multiple operating companies.
• Prepare/review journal entries for AR, AP, cash, payroll, assets, inventory, intercompany, and accruals.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts per policy.
• Explain variances to forecast and budget with management.
• Coordinate month-end close timing with cross-functional teams.
• Lead a team of accountants with coaching and career development.
• Drive collaboration and continuous improvement across the accounting function.
• Prepare for year-end audits and respond to external audit requests.
• Champion adoption of new accounting software and tools.
