Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Archaeologist to support Phase I–III CRM surveys across Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia offices, including Austin, Dallas, Houston, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Atlanta, and Kennesaw.

The role focuses on environmental permitting, data management, and report authorship within CRM. The candidate will conduct field surveys, contribute to proposals, and coordinate with agencies, with travel up to 30% and fieldwork up to 30% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in archaeology/anthropology or related field (required).
• Master's degree in archaeology/anthropology (preferred).
• Must meet Secretary of the Interior standards (36 CFR Part 61) (required).
• Minimum 8 years CRM experience (required).
• Experience authoring primary CRM reports and QC of field documents/reports (required).
• Experience conducting Phase I–III CRM surveys for linear/large projects (required).
• Strong understanding of NHPA/NEPA compliance and related federal requirements (preferred).
• Experience preparing proposals for private/public sector clients (required).
• Ability to work independently 40+ hours per week (required).
• Experience holding and completing a Texas Antiquities Permit as Principal Investigator (required).
• Excellent writing and communication skills (required).
• Health & Safety training and drug/background testing may be required.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and driving record for business travel (required).

Responsibilities

• Identifying cultural resources to support environmental permitting of infrastructure projects.
• Preparing NEPA documents (EA/EIS) and environmental resource reports.
• Providing primary authorship in CRM context and QC of field documents/reports.
• Coordinating with state and Federal resource agencies on historic resources.
• Data management and curation post field assessment.
• Conducting archaeological site inspections and monitoring, including deep testing.
• Business development.
• Curating finds and documents as required.
• Preparing a variety of technical documents and environmental permit applications.
• Fieldwork: Up to 30%.
• Overnight travel: Up to 30%.
