Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks an experienced Senior Archaeologist to lead cultural resource investigations across TX, LA, and GA offices, including Austin, Dallas, Houston, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Atlanta, and nearby states.

The role covers Phase I–III surveys, permitting support, and compliance tasks. Ideal candidates have 8+ years in CRM, strong writing skills, and a Texas PI permit. Travel and fieldwork are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related field (required).
• Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related field (preferred).
• Ability to meet the Secretary of the Interior's standards, 36 CFR Part 61 (required).
• At least 8 years of experience in Cultural Resource Management (CRM).
• Experience with primary report authorship in CRM context for QA of field docs/reports.
• Experience conducting Phase I, II, III surveys for linear or large projects.
• Strong understanding of NHPA/NEPA, Texas Antiquities Code, and federal standards.
• Experience preparing proposals for private/public sector clients.
• Ability to work independently for 40+ hours/week on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Identifying cultural resources to support environmental permitting of infrastructure projects.
• Preparing NEPA documents including EA/EIS and resource reports.
• Providing primary authorship for CRM reports and QA of field documents.
• Coordinating with state and federal resource agencies on historic resources.
• Data management and curation after field assessments.
• Conducting archaeological site inspections and deep testing.
• Business development and client engagement activities.
• Preparing technical documents and permit applications.
