Senior Archaeologist — CRM Lead (Phase I-III)

Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Archaeologist to contribute to cultural resource projects across multiple planned offices, including Austin, Dallas, Houston, and several other locations.

You will conduct Phase I, II, and III surveys, support permitting and compliance, and lead report writing in CRM contexts. The role requires at least 8 years in CRM, strong writing skills, and the ability to travel; a Texas PI permit is preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of CRM experience.
• Experience with primary report authorship in CRM context.
• Experience conducting Phase I, II, III surveys for linear or large projects.
• Solid understanding of Texas Antiquities Code, NHPA/NEPA, DOI requirements.
• Experience preparing proposals for private and public sector clients.
• Ability to work independently for 40+ hours per week.
• Demonstrated ability to hold and complete a Texas Antiquities Permit as PI.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and travel readiness.

Responsibilities

• Identifying cultural resources to support environmental permitting.
• Preparing NEPA documents and related environmental reports.
• Primary authorship oversight and QC of field documents and site forms.
• Coordinating with state and Federal resource agencies.
• Data management and curation after field assessments.
• Conducting site inspections and monitoring, including deep testing.
• Business development.
• Curating finds and documents as required; preparing permit applications.
• Fieldwork up to 30%; overnight travel up to 30%.
