Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks Senior Archaeologist positions in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Atlanta. You will conduct Phase I–III surveys, support permitting, and assist in CRM reporting for infrastructure projects in TX, LA, and surrounding states.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related field (required).
• Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related field (preferred).
• Ability to meet the Secretary of the Interior's standards, 36 CFR, Part 61 (required).
• At least 8 years of experience in Cultural Resource Management (CRM) (required).
• Experience with primary report authorship in a CRM context (required).
• Experience conducting Phase I, II, and III surveys for linear corridors and large projects (required).
• Ability to work independently for 40+ hours per week (required).
• Texas Antiquities Permit as Principal Investigator (required).
• Excellent writing and communication skills (required).

Responsibilities

• Identifying cultural resources to support environmental permitting of infrastructure projects.
• Preparing NEPA documents including EA and EIS.
• Providing primary authorship in CRM reports for QA/QC.
• Coordinating with state and Federal resource agencies.
• Data management and curation post field assessment.
• Conducting archaeological site inspections and monitoring; deep testing.
• Business development; preparing proposals.
• Preparing technical documents and permit applications.
• Fieldwork up to 30%, overnight travel up to 30%.
