Job summary

Lumen is seeking an API Technology Architect to be a customer‑facing technical specialist on the SWAT team. You will lead API‑focused discovery, design integration patterns, and guide secure, reusable API solutions across multiple products.

This role requires 10+ years in API or integration architecture, pre‑sales or solution architecture, and strong communication with developers, sales, and product teams. Some travel and a comprehensive benefits package are provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• 10+ years in technical pre‑sales, solution architecture, API/ integration architecture, software or platform consulting, or telecom engineering.
• Experience leading technical discovery and translating requirements into clear designs.
• Knowledge of API authentication/authorization, including OAuth 2.0 and secret handling.
• Strong written and verbal communication across developers, sales, product and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery with customers and account teams to understand objectives, automation goals, systems, workflows, and security requirements.
• Architect and document customer integration patterns, including API dependencies, request/response flows, authentication, and operational support.
• Collaborate with technology architects and domain specialists across products when requirements span multiple areas.
• Lead or participate in customer workshops, architecture discussions, demonstrations, and onboarding calls.
• Create API enablement resources and partner with stakeholders to improve usability and consistency.
