Job summary

T-Mobile is seeking a Principal Engineer, Forward Deployment to set the technical direction for agentic AI across the Forward Deployment Engineering practice. You will stay hands-on, write and review production code, and shape AI direction with platform, data, and infrastructure leaders.

Expect to lead architectural decisions, ensure delivery consistency, and contribute to ROI across the FDE portfolio. Travel and high performance demanded as part of a fast-growing AI domain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Software Eng/Data Science or related field; master's preferred.
• 7–10+ years production engineering; 3+ years deploying LLM-based systems.
• Experience setting technical direction for a team or practice: standards, architecture, mentorship.
• Experience at a high-growth AI or cloud company preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for agentic AI across the practice.
• Establish architectural approaches for agentic AI work.
• Drive delivery consistency across domains and provide senior technical help.
• Build and maintain shared technical foundations across the team.
• Tackle the most complex technical challenges while staying hands-on.
• Advise leadership on capacity and ROI and raise concerns early.
• Grow the technical capability of the FDE team and calibrate standards for hiring.
• Incorporate data handling, privacy, and security per governance standards.
