Job summary

T-Mobile USA, Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer, Forward Deployment to set technical direction for agentic AI across the Forward Deployment Engineering portfolio.

You will lead through influence, stay hands-on with production code, and shape AI strategy with platform, data, and infrastructure leadership. You will drive architectural decisions, build shared foundations, and ensure high ROI across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 7-10+ years in production engineering, with 3+ years deploying LLM-based systems.
• 2+ years delivering agentic or multi-agent systems and measurable AI outcomes.
• Experience setting technical direction, defining standards, and guiding engineers.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for agentic AI delivery across the Forward Deployment practice.
• Establish architectural approaches and prioritize problems for agentic AI solutions.
• Drive cross-domain delivery consistency while providing senior technical support.
• Build and maintain shared technical foundations and generalize successful approaches.
• Tackle the most complex technical challenges hands-on with cost, performance, and reliability in view.
• Advise leadership on capacity and ROI, raise concerns early when necessary.
• Grow the technical capability of the FDE team and participate in hiring decisions.
• Incorporate sound data handling, privacy, and security practices per governance standards.
